Robin Reed Christmas Crackers
Reed has been manufacturing Christmas Crackers since 1975, making it the
oldest established Christmas Cracker Company in the United Kingdom. Continuing
in a long tradition, Robin Reed Crackers are still carefully made by hand
using the finest materials, quality gift contents, and of course the corniest
jokes they can find. Robin Reed does not use die-cut foil treated card
for the outer wrapping of their crackers, ensuring that your crackers will
maintain their original shape and always look great when removed from the
box and set out for use.
A Which? Magazine survey published in November 2007 reported that "Robin Reed Crackers...offered the most for your money.

What are Christmas Crackers?Crackers were invented in the mid-1840's by a London pastry cook named Tom Smith, and have been an integral part of British holiday fun and tradition for over 150 years. In its simplest form, a cracker is a small cardboard tube wrapped in a brightly colored twist of paper and containing a paper crown (tissue party hat), a motto (British joke or riddle), and a small gift or novelty item. When the ends of the cracker are pulled, it tears apart producing a small, friction-activated ‘pop’ and revealing the hidden objects inside. The mottos or jokes in crackers are notoriously silly and unmemorable, and while the majority of commercial produced brands contain very inexpensive gifts, some custom-made crackers house rewards of greater value and meaning.
In addition to Christmas, Crackers are used as decorative party favors to celebrate a variety of other special occasions and festive events. The pulling of crackers and donning of the party hats creates a relaxed, festive atmosphere certain to get any party function off the ground. Crackers provide a colorful and exciting start to any celebration, and also present each guest with a gift by which to remember the days events. At Christmas, crackers make great tree ornaments, stocking stuffers, and welcoming gifts for visiting friends and relatives. They can also be used as invitations, promotional gifts, an advertising medium, shower and wedding favors, and individualized gifts for special occasions such as Valentine's Day and Mother's Day.
